This origins of this grape variety are unknown. Gamay de Bouze is a teinturier grape. In France, it is grown in the Loire Valley and Beaujolais vineyards. It has the same potential and susceptibilities as Gamay Noir. Both bunches and grapes are small. Gamay de Bouze wines are less elegant than those of Gamay Noir and it is mainly used in blends for added color.
