This grape variety is thought to be a mutation of Gamay de Bouze. Gamay Fréaux is a teinturier grape. It is cultivated in the Loire Valley. It has the same potential and susceptibilities as Gamay Noir. Both bunches and grapes are small. It has even greater color potential than Gamay de Bouze but generally produces lower quality wines. |
