This is the gray form of Grolleau Noir. It is grown in western France, in the Vendée, Maine et Loire, and Loire Atlantique. It has the same potential and susceptibilities as Grolleau Noir. In addition, it is susceptible to gray rot and the bunches and grapes are smaller than those of the Grolleau Noir. It is used to make rosé and sparkling wines. |
