This grape variety originated in the Tours area. It is cultivated in the Loire Valley in France. Grolleau Noir is vigorous and produces high yields. It is susceptible to pedicel rot and dead-arm disease. It has medium-sized bunches and grapes. It is used for red and rosé wines, as well as high quality sparkling wines, provided yields are kept low. These fruity wines, light in both body and color, are very easy to drink. |
