This grape variety probably originates from the eastern Mediterranean. It is grown in Provence. Tibouren has a very early bud-break, a few days before Chasselas, so it is susceptible to spring frosts. It is quite prolific and suffers from poor fruit set and shot berries. The bunches are large, with medium-sized grapes. It may also be used as a table grape. Tibouren wines are light in color and rosés made from this variety are especially fine. |
